Esie Mensah is an artist whose creative footprint extends into many genres, discipline and regions. 

Mansah is an award-winning choreographer, movement director and TEDxToronto speaker, who brings her mastery in storytelling to audiences as diverse as her experience. Mensah has worked with megastars like Rihanna, Drake, Nelly Furtado and Arcade Fire to historic brands like Coca Cola, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, TIFF, ROM, Shaw Festival, Soul pepper Theatre, and Raptors.

Mensah was the 2014 Black Canadian Award Winner for Best Contemporary Dancer and the 2015 recipient of the Cultural Promotion award from the Ghanaian-Canadian Association. Aside from her accolades, Esie is committed to bringing a new fresh genre of dance into the industry. Afrofusion is her own unique style of dance that includes movements from Traditional and Contemporary African styles with Urban, Latin, Caribbean and Modern styles of dance.

Using her own work,  Mansah has committed to using Afrofusion to explore more personal narratives. She have spent years developing her own style of dance and through her company Esie Mensah Creations has created 3 original works; Akoma, ZAYO and Shades. Esie has a unique ability to transform movement into a physical language and has been doing so as a movement director for the past few years. Recent involvement includes the Shaw Festival's Russian Play and Victory, Soulpepper’s MaRainey’s Black Bottom to Musical Stage Company’s Caroline, or Change.
