Aubrey “Drake” Graham is definitely a prominent figure not only in Canadian Music but a powerhouse musician worldwide. Drake is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, actor and entrepreneur. He started off his career as an actor on the popular tv series Degrassi and then later transitioned into music.
Drake was born on October 24th, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario. His father is a Black American musician and his mother is a white Canadian Jewish woman that was an English teacher and florist.
Drake is notably one of the most influential Black figures in Canadian music paving the way for future musicians. Some of Drake accomplishments includes a record 35 Billboard Awards, 20 Hip Hop Awards, 15 BET Awards, 9 Much Music Awards, 8 iHeart Radio Music Awards,6 Juno Awards, 6 American Music Award, 5 Grammys, 5 MTV Awards, 5 Soul Train Awards, 2 NAACP Image Awards just to name a few. Drake is reportedly responsible for 5 percent (CAD$440 million) of Toronto's CAD$8.8 billion total annual tourism income. He’s also the founder of his record label OVO Sound that’s has an amazing roster with artists like Roywoods, DVSN, Partynextdoor, Majid Jordan, Smiley, Popcaan and their new signee Naomi Sharon.
We can go on and on with his accomplishments but you got the point. Toronto build this Guy a statue already because we know it’s coming! Drake is hands down a prominent figure in Canadian History.
