Amanda Parris is a Canadian award winning writer, producer and tv/radio host. She is the creator and former host of the popular R&B radio show held on CBC, “Marvin’s Room”. She was also the host of several television arts series. In 2022, she was awarded the Canadian Screen Award for Best Host. Parris is the creator of Black Light an award-winning column for CBC Arts, that showcases, explores and critically engages art and popular culture created by Black people.
Parris also created, executive produced and showrunner of the critically acclaimed digital series Revenge of the Black Best Friend which launched on CBC Gem in 2022. Her latest theatrical work The Death News won the 2022 Canadian Screen Award for Best Writing, Web Program or Series. Her play Other Side Of The Game was awarded the 2019 Governor General Literary Award for Drama.
